‘Our Scottish Future, the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Chamber of Commerce are hosting a conference on 6 June Scotland: creating the jobs of tomorrow to share practical ideas for how we achieve that.

Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown is pulling together experts from Scotland and around the world to chart a way forward.

We have a nation bursting with potential.
So many of the ingredients for success are already present – great people, a trusted brand as a nation, some companies at the forefront of innovation, some of the world’s best universities, and great connections with the wider world.

How can we turn these ingredients into the levels of prosperity that we aspire to?

One of the key drivers has to be innovation – taking the great ideas that are being developed in universities and industry and turning them into great products and high-quality jobs.

The conference will discuss ways of achieving that. We’ll hear from leading experts including Nobel Prize-winning economist Michael Spence. We’ll hear from Scottish entrepreneurs who have worked internationally about how they’ve translated ideas into business success and high-quality jobs. We’ve got leading international investors coming to share their perspectives how to create growth, including former Covid vaccines task force chair Dame Kate Bingham, and Kasim Kutay who leads the investment foundation of the world’s most valuable life sciences company Novo Nordisk. We’ll have insights from successful spin-outs and scale-ups that have grown from Scotland’s universities.
We’ll also have key figures from the world of politics and government to discuss how policy, at UK and Scottish levels, can support innovation-led growth.
