This blog will explore the cost of living for a student in Glasgow, including accommodation, food, transport, and other expenses.

Accommodation: Accommodation is the biggest expense for students in Glasgow. The accommodation cost varies depending on the location, accommodation type, and facilities provided. A single room in a shared apartment can cost around £350-£500 per month. If you prefer to live alone, a studio or one-bedroom apartment can cost you around £550-£800 per month. It's worth noting that the closer you live to the city center or the university, the higher the rent will be.

Food: The cost of food in Glasgow can vary depending on where you shop and what you eat. Eating out can be expensive, with a meal at a mid-range restaurant costing around £10-£15. However, cooking your meals will be the cheapest option with a weekly grocery bill costing around £20-£30. It's worth shopping at discount supermarkets like Lidl and Aldi to save money.

Transport: Glasgow has a comprehensive public transport system, which makes it easy for students to get around the city. The cost of transport varies depending on the mode of transportation you use. A bus or subway ride costs around £1.80, while a single train ride costs between £2-£5 depending on the distance traveled within the city. If you use public transport frequently, it's worth investing in a weekly or monthly pass, which can save you money in the long run. Students under 22 can travel for free on the buses in Glasgow
