Published: 18 September 2023

Running in the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) elections gives you the opportunity to do just that. Being on council is all about representing the voices of your fellow students and taking those to the very highest levels of the University.

Have you ever wondered, ‘how can I make a difference and bring about change at the University?’

Running in the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) elections gives you the opportunity to do just that. Being on council is all about representing the voices of your fellow students and taking those to the very highest levels of the University.

In the upcoming Autumn Council elections on Thursday 12th October, the SRC have positions available for:

Undergraduate College Convenors

School Representatives

Welfare and Equal Opportunities Officers

If any of these positions sound of interest to you, consider nominating yourself - nominations are now open for you to apply! The full details of how to nominate yourself and what it requires can be found on the SRC website at glasgowunisrc.org/elections.

Nominations close on the 29th of September (12pm deadline, then 4pm is the deadline for your sponsors, photo, manifesto, manifesto summary and proof of student ID) so take the time to think about this fully, and reach out to the SRC with any questions by emailing elections@src.gla.ac.uk.

If you’re not sure about the costs involved in running, you might be interested in election campaign grant funding. All candidates running in the SRC Autumn Elections can apply for a grant towards their campaign cost. Find out more here.

Once nominations are complete there will be a few information sessions for you to find out more about campaigning for your position, as well as hustings which gives students a chance to present why they want to run and also other students to question you.

The voting process will be on Thursday 12 October where you can vote online for who you want to win in the Autumn Elections.

Get involved and be the change you want to see at UofG.
