What are some of the benefits of staying active as a new student?

Physical Fitness and Health: Engaging in regular physical activity can help you maintain or improve your physical fitness and overall health. It provides an opportunity to stay active, increase your cardiovascular fitness, build strength, and improve flexibility. This can be especially important to compensate for all that time studying and sitting in lectures!

Stress Relief and Mental Wellbeing: Sports and physical activities are excellent stress relievers. They release endorphins, the body's natural mood lifters, which can help reduce anxiety, stress, and depression. Engaging in sport and physical activity can improve your concentration and boost your self-esteem and self-confidence.

Social Connection and Networking: It is a fantastic way to meet new people and make friends. You'll have the opportunity to bond with teammates over shared interests, experiences, and goals. These connections can lead to lasting friendships and valuable networking opportunities in the future.

Time Management and Discipline: Being part of a sports club requires commitment and time management skills. Balancing your academic responsibilities with sport helps develop personal discipline and organisational skills.

Skill Development and Personal Growth: Whether you're a beginner or have prior experience in a sport, joining UofG Sport allows you to develop and refine your skills. You can set personal goals for improvement, work on teamwork and leadership skills, and gain a sense of achievement.
