Welcome to English for Study and Communication (ESC).

ESC is a series of one-hour long workshops available to all students and staff. These focus on a variety of English language skills and situations, both academic and non-academic.
These sessions are aimed at those whose first language is not English, but anyone is welcome to attend. They are not credit-bearing and there is no charge for the workshops.
We run two types of workshop, Discussion & Conversation and English Language & Study Skills
Attending the workshops gives you the opportunity to meet students from different courses and cultures. You can practise using English in a welcoming and supportive environment where the emphasis is on developing your ability to communicate effectively. There are no assessments, no grading, no preparation or homework!
- You can come to as many or as few sessions as you want to
- You do not need to prepare for the sessions and there is no homework!
- Don't worry if you need to arrive late or leave early, you can still book a place on the workshops.
