This information applies to full-time and part-time students.

Funding your studies - the basics

Fees are due in full at the start of the academic year or the start of your programme of study if this is a different date.

If you are responsible for paying your own fees we recommend that you carefully consider how you intend to make payment at an early stage and decide which of the available payment options you wish to choose.

You will be asked to pay your fees when you register online using MyCampus. You will need to either pay your fees in full or agree to pay by the approved instalment plan before you can be registered as a student.

Tuition fee payment options

Payment in full:

  • Credit or debit card (online via MyCampus)
  • Via our international payments platform

International students pay their fees using University of Glasgow international payments platform powered by our partner Convera. This allows you, your parents and sponsors to pay student fees in the currency of your choice and provides you with a simple and secure way to make a payment.

How it works?

Simply select the country you are paying from, how much you would like to pay and your preferred method of payment. Enter your student details. Get your payment instructions and make your payment. You can track your payment status through every step.

Benefits for you:

  • Pay international fees by bank transfer or online e-wallet

Make your payment

  • Cheque

Payment in instalments:

  • Direct Debit

If you are a new International student, and you do not have a valid UK bank account and you wish to pay by direct debit you must first pay a minimum of 60% of your fee.  You will be able to set up a direct debit for the remaining fee once you arrive in the UK and have a valid UK bank account.  Your direct debit must be in place before the start of term to pay the remainder of your fee.

If you are an International student and have a valid UK bank account you can set up the Direct Debit for the full fee without having to pay the 60% in advance.

  • Manual Instalment Plan and Agreed Payment Plans

You can opt to pay tuition fees, accommodation or bench fees by manual instalment plan. These are required to be set up separately.  This option will ensure any charges billed throughout the term are incorporated into your instalment plan and are visible through your student centre.

We offer eight instalments for tuition and bench fees which will fall due on the 30th of each month starting in October and seven instalments for accommodation fees.  Any deposits paid in advance will be deducted from your account before we calculate the instalment amounts.

Please ensure that you have sufficient funds to meet your instalment payments and these are paid direct to the university by the due date of the 30th, using your student number as your reference.

Should 2 payments of a manual instalment plan be missed in a term, we will cancel the instalment plan and the full balance of remaining fees will become due immediately and you will not be able to reinstate a manual instalment plan in that term.

In this instance, a secure agreed payment plan should be made with the collections department on finance-student@glasgow.ac.uk to ensure your account is not passed to an external collections agency.  This option offers more flexibility as we can select a due date suitable for you.

Cancelling a Manual Instalment Plan or an Agreed Payment Plan:

If you wish to cancel your manual instalment plan or agreed payment plan, please do so by writing to finance-student@glasgow.ac.uk

If you cancel your manual instalment plan or agreed payment plan any balance of fees still outstanding will become payable in full immediately.

Other charges

Other charges such as Library fines, other fines, room transfer fees and late payment penalties will be added to your account with the University if they are incurred during the year.

These charges cannot be paid by the Direct Debit instalment plan. You must pay them using an alternative approved payment method listed above.

Late payment penalties

A late payment penalty equal to 3% of any remaining balance (minimum charge £5) will be charged in circumstances where payments are not made by due dates. We will send you reminders by email to your University of Glasgow email address regarding any overdue balance on your account.

If a sponsor is paying all or part of your fees, we will send an invoice directly to them. Your sponsor will have 30 days to pay the invoice.

If your sponsor fails to pay, the fees will automatically be transferred to your account with the University and you will be held liable for their payment in full.

The University will contact you if we encounter problems recovering money from your sponsor.

You may incur other non-financial penalties if you fail to pay your fees by the due dates.

You can view your account in MyCampus.
