Rationale

Prior to August 1st, departments published detailed taught programme and course information within their departmental website.  RIO and Corporate Communications published taught programme information within a central repository [the web prospectuses].  Bringing the two together will result in:

  • an increase in visitors to supporting content.  Analysis of visitors to our website showed that the central repository of programme information was five times more likely to be visited than an equivalent page within a departmental web site.
  • less duplication of effort as content relating to taught programmes is published in a single location.
  • improved google rankings as content relating to taught programmes is published in a single location.
  • a consistency of content and presentation that improves the usability of our website eg. the introduction of naming conventions.
