The lecture included a documentary film and the event concluded with an art exhibition and sale, and Scottish music recital and reception in the Atrium.
Funds raised from the art sale and individual contributions were donated to Heritage Foundation Pakistan and the Hindu Kush Conservation Association for rehabilitation of the flood victims in Pakistan.
In association with the University of Glasgow Centre for International Development (GCID), Braewell Galleries, Edinburgh, Scottish Contemporary Artists and Serendip Productions, Pakistan.

Lecture by Ms Gill Braulik of Scottish Oceans Institute, University of St. Andrews, and Pakistan Wetlands Programme, WWF, Pakistan, on "Blind and Beleaguered: the freshwater dolphins of Pakistan"

Forum:  Developing Links with Higher Education Institutes in Pakistan

This forum highlighted the developing links that the University of Glasgow is undertaking with the Higher Education Sector Institutes in Pakistan.  There were brief presentations by the University Vice-Principal, the Pakistan Consul General to Scotland, University staff and students who are involved in these exchanges. This was followed by a question / answer session, and discussion on the potential for future programmes. Lunch was provided.

Scottish Asian Earthquake Disaster Appeal (SAEDA) 2006 Charity Dinner for victims of the October 2005 earthquake in Northern Pakistan

The Scottish Pakistani Association jointly organised a fund raising dinner with other charities under the banner of the Scottish Asian Earthquake Disaster Appeal (SAEDA) at Carmichael Hall, Glasgow on 10th February 2006.  The £4,500 raised was donated to Save the Children (Sweden) via the British Council Pakistan for reconstruction of a girl’s middle school in the Siran valley, NWFP after the devastating 8th October 2005 earthquake.  Azra and Peter Meadows, during a visit to Pakistan, also visited the tent school in Dheri Meelbut, Siran valley with Save the Children Fund local staff, where the girls were temporarily housed.  They have subsequently visited the new building of the school.

SAEDA the Scottish Asian Earthquake Disaster Appeal comprises of charities and organisations which include Bangladesh Disaster Relief Fund, Bengali Performing Arts, Bangiya Sanskritik Parishad, Charity Education International, East Dunbartonshire Ethnic Minority Forum, Heer Productions, Scottish Academy of Asian Arts, Scottish Asian Action Committee and the Scottish
Pakistani Association.

Connecting Futures – Student's Dialogue' British Council's project, 30th September 2005

University of Glasgow students Anna Chieumento, Gary Sargeant and Tommy Wan were invited by HR Dr Maleeha Lodhi, High Commissioner for Pakistan to give a presentation at the Pakistan High Commission, London, on 30th September 2005.  The presentation provided a valuable platform for the students to express their impressions of their visit to Pakistan.

Dr Lodhi gave a though-provoking lecture to a packed audience of about 80 people, followed by an interesting discussion and question/answer session.  Professor Steve Beaumont, Vice-Principal of the University of Glasgow welcomed Dr Lodhi and thanked her for coming to the University to give the talk.
