Burns Iqbal Supper 2003

Held at the Koh-I-Noor Restaurant in Glasgow, on 11 February 2003

The Scottish Pakistani Association is sad to announce the death of Mr Yaqub Ali, OBE, an honoured Patron of the Scottish Pakistani Association. He passed away on 11th June 2003 after an illness in Pakistan. May his soul rest in peace.

Mr Ali came to Scotland many decades ago and became one of Scotland's leading businessman, and was awarded an OBE for his enterprising work. He supported a number of educational projects in Pakistan and in the UK, in particular the two bursaries for postgraduate students from Pakistan to study at Strathclyde University.

The members of the Scottish Pakistani Association wish to express their deepest condolences to his family. Mr Ali (standing fourth from the right in the photograph below, at the Burns Iqbal Supper, February 2003) will be remembered for his generosity and kindness, and his colleagues and friends will miss him dearly.
