About us

Research Culture and Researcher Development

We work as one multidisciplinary team across Research Culture and Researcher Development.

Led by Dr Kay Guccione, we aim to ensure that every member of our research ecosystem is supported to be at their best, and to be part of an engaging, fair, and collegial environment in which people help each other to succeed and to make informed, active choices about their career ahead.

At Glasgow we have purposefully combined the cognate priorities of Research Culture and Researcher Development into one portfolio. This is because our work to support a thriving research culture represents a change process. Whether we are seeking to gradually evolve elements of our culture to adopt best practices, or to rapidly upskill our research teams in emerging areas, a change process represents one of learning, development and professional growth for our colleagues. We work across the whole portfolio to create cross-specialism solutions that recognise the complexity of issues that define and affect our research culture. Embedding our values and priorities for our research culture into all our development activities places continuous (re)emphasis on what is important to us.
