Information for Hosts

The University of Glasgow proudly supports visitors from across the globe. We also must remain committed to the principles of trusted research. This means there are a number of considerations to make when planning to host a visitor.

Due Diligence

Your first step should be conducting some due diligence. Ask yourself questions like

  • Does their research background match what they want to come to do?
  • Do you seem like a natural fit for the work?
  • Guidance on this is available here

Visa Status

Export Control

  • Do you work in a sensitive area of research? Some guidance on what this includes is available here
  • Will your visitor continue to work with an institution in a sanctioned country
  • If you need help to determine if this might apply to you contact the Research Governance and Integrity Team via Ivanti

Access

  • Where would your visitor need access to during their visit?
  • What equipment, facilities or other resources (e.g. IT, labs, JWNC) do they need to use?
  • Is there anyone working on sensitive research in these areas?
  • For IT access some information is available here
  • Contact School offices and Campus Security team to confirm local arrangements
