HeadStart Programme
The HeadStart programme supports new Heads of School in the first few weeks and months in post and helps put their vision for their School into practice. Informed by insights from previous Heads, the programme gives an insight into the strategic context of the University, introduces the range of technical skills and tools available to deliver the Head’s strategy and how it’s supported through UofG policies, processes and people. Key areas covered include:
- HoS role in development and people management;
- Finance and governance structures;
- Strategic Planning round.
The programme is run through in-person session/s which brings together the group of all new Heads of School from that year and allows them to meet colleagues from People and OD, Finance, and Planning, Insights and Analytics. Accompanying the time together is a Sharepoint signposting key resources and guides which can be accessed as needed into the first year in post.
HeadStart runs during August/September annually to support the new appointments of Heads of School. It is specifically for new Heads so direct invitations to join the programme will be sent to relevant individuals.
