Since joining the University as Catering Manager at Wolfson Hall/Kelvin Conference Centre (KCC) just under a year ago, Paul Chalmers has implemented a whole range of changes for both residents of Wolfson Hall and those holding or attending events at Wolfson Hall/KCC, writes Jean Lindsay, Conference & Events.

Although Paul joined the University from the Marriott Portsmouth where he had been Senior Sous Chef / Head Chef from 2015 - 2017, the majority of Paul’s working life has been spent in the Royal Navy where, over 15 years, he worked his way through the ranks to Petty Office Caterer, cooking for various high profile dignitaries worldwide, including HRH The Queen.

For the residents of Wolfson Hall, Paul has implemented innovations designed to offer healthier choices (e.g. a full salad bar every evening) and increase flexibility, including the introduction of grab and go breakfast bags and late meals.

Organisers hosting their events at Wolfson Hall/KCC, have also enjoyed the benefit of Paul’s expertise with a full range of new event menus being introduced.  From light lunches through to a more substantial offering, the menus are designed to suit all requirements and budgets, although Paul and the team are more than happy to devise bespoke menus when required.

For University staff unfamiliar with the Kelvin Conference Centre, it is the University’s own year round conference and meeting facility located next door to Wolfson Hall in the West of Scotland Science Park.  Ideally suited for a whole range of events, the KCC holds up to 148 delegates in its air conditioned lecture theatre and had a variety of breakout spaces along with a good sized exhibition/catering area.

Meeting rooms at Wolfson Hall/KCC can also be booked individually and are perfect for staff away days, training events and management meetings.
