Reconstructions of World War I trenches at Pollock Country Park were opened to the public this weekend as part of the ‘Digging In’ project.

The Heritage Lottery Fund awarded a grant of £99,600 to a partnership formed of the University of Glasgow, Northlight Heritage, Glasgow City Council, and Stewart's Melville College to create this innovative learning facility.

The recreation shows a 1915 WW1 allied dug out trench and a German trench with bomb craters recreated out in no man’s land.

The project will be extended and developed over the next three years.
