The Race Equality Group are keen to hear the views of black and minority ethnicity staff and students across campus.

The University’s Race Equality Champion, Professor John Briggs, Clerk of Senate convened the first Race Equality Group at the end of the last academic session.

The group discussed the most recent Staff Equality Monitoring Report data,  Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) representation across job families at the University and recruitment data for BME staff, as well as Student Degree Attainment and whether there is an ‘attainment gap’ for BME students.

In addition, the group reviewed the recent Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) report on Academic flight: how to encourage black and minority ethnic academics to stay in UK higher education.

The group aims to meet three times a year, with the first meeting of the 2015-16 session scheduled for November.  Group members would be keen to hear the views of BME staff and students across campus.
