It's emerged that a web server in the School of Computing Science has been compromised, and email addresses and passwords of users who registered on it made available on the internet. The website contained computing science teaching material which was not confidential or sensitive.  The site has been taken down, and its thought the majority of those users whose details are involved are out with the University.

However, there is a possibility some of the people who registered to access this teaching material had registered with a password they had re-used elsewhere. (We advise against re-using passwords).

The affected individuals have been contacted, and the University is investigating the circumstances surrounding the data acquisition. We apologise to anybody who may have been affected.
