Susan Bassnett, a world-renowned and prolific literary theorist and critic, public intellectual and scholar, and until recently Professor of Comparative Literature and Special Advisor in Translation Studies at Warwick, has recently joined the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at Glasgow.

In this public lecture she will be drawing on her long and wide-ranging experience as a translator and poet, as well as a translation theorist, to explore the inherent and distinctive challenges of translating poetry.
