This weekend sees the 2015 Scottish Boat Race, this year in association with Watermans Solicitors.  All eyes will be on the University of Glasgow's talented rowers.

This will be the third year the Scottish Boat Race will taking place in the Clyde Harbour area of the river.

Previously starting in the Dalmarnock area of the city, organisers of the Scottish Boat Race moved the event further into the city centre.

The new competition course runs over 2.6km from Broomielaw Quay to the finish line at the iconic Riverside Museum at Glasgow Harbour.

The event sees the two fierce rivals compete in coxed eight crews in 3 different categories:

  • alumni crews
  • reserve crews
  • and the 1st crews in both male and female disciplines

Each team consists of 8 rowers and a cox, who sits at the stern facing the bow steering the boat whilst coordinating the power and rhythm of the rowers.

Stephen Fisher, Captain, Glasgow University Boat Club, says: “The Scottish Boat Race is a prestigious part of the university rowing calendar and is one of my highlights of the year.

As always, this year’s event promises to be an excellent spectacle with top quality rowing on show, with the passion and intensity that come in tandem with a rivalry such as that between GUBC and EUBC.”
