There was good news across several areas for the University of Glasgow from the latest QS subject rankings which were released today (Wednesday 29 April).

This follows on from the publication of the Complete University Guide earlier this week, where Glasgow was 30th in the UK.

In the QS survey the University of Glasgow scored in 34 subjects, was ranked in 30 and had 14 subjects in the world top 100. One of which – Veterinary Science – was in the world top ten.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Veterinary Science is now ranked 7th in the world, and 2nd in the UK
  • Geography is 26th in the world and 11th in the UK
  • English Language and Literature is placed at 38th in the world and joint 10th  in the UK

University of Glasgow subjects now grouped in the world 51-100 category are History; Computer Science and Information Systems;  Biological Sciences; Medicine; Pharmacy and Pharmacology; Psychology; Physics and Astronomy; Accountancy and Finance; Communication and Media Studies; Development Studies; Education. 

Professor Anton Muscatelli, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Glasgow said: “I am delighted that our progress in the QS subject rankings over recent years has continued and whilst we should always be cautious about league tables, this again shows the success of Glasgow as a world leading research intensive university.”
