Staff from across the University quizzed the senior management team last week in the first Campus Conversation event, held in the Bute Hall. An on-the-day vote suggested the vast majority thought the staff engagement event "worthwhile" and worth repeating in the future.

Principal Anton Muscatelli and members of his senior management team discussed the Glasgow 2020 restructuring programme, plans for the REF, the development of the Gilmorehill campus and many other topics during the three hour Campus Conversation last Friday.Campus Conversation 300 Heather Reid

The event was hosted by broadcaster and meteorologist Heather Reid OBE. As well as issues raised on the day by the audience, scores of questions had been submitted in advance covering interdisciplinary research, internationalisation, online learning and the University's support services.

For the second half of the event, Director of Estates and Buildings Ann Allen, joined the platform guests.  The discussion ranged over plans for the Western Infirmary site, transport infrastructure, reducing carbon emissions and preserving green space.

The event was webcast and thus available to staff on the Garscube campus, in Dumfries and overseas.‌Campus Conversation 300

Nearly two hundred attended the event.  An immediate, post-event poll found 118 of those who voted thought the Campus Conversation was worthwhile and worth repeating. Fourteen attendees said it was a waste of time and not worth a re-run.‌‌

The iPad Mini tablet, offered in a prize draw for those who registered and attended the Campus Conversation was won by Professor Kay Livingston, Professor of Educational Research, Policy and Practice in the School of Education.‌

The Campus Conversation event began with the screening of a video which examines the restructuring process following Glasgow 2020 and the Campus Vision project which will see a major transformation for the Gilmorehill campus following the acquisition of the Western Infirmary site.
