A rowing challenge at the Garscube Small Animal Hospital earlier this month was a tremendous success, raising at least £445 with online donations still coming in. The proceeds are for a charity called SAIN (Students for Animals In Need) which has been set up and run by students at the University of Glasgow Vet School who work together to raise money to provide treatment for sick or injured animals that might otherwise not be able to receive treatment at the hospital.

The overall team winners on the day were the staff with an overall distance of 83,892 metres but the students were not far behind with an overall distance of 80,272 metres. The top staff female rower was Kiterie Faller with a distance of 5949 metres and the top female final year student rower was Katrina Miller with 5464 metres. The overall men’s competition was won by Jacques Penderis with 6654 metres but only 2 metres behind him was the top male final year student Tom Kelso (rather impressive for someone who has never been on a rowing machine before!).

Emma Roberts, Resident in Small Animal Internal Medicine, sends her thanks to everyone involved for their support and donations for SAIN and to all the staff and students who took part, including final year vet student Jordan Carnworth who helped with the organisation. Emma said the support was very much appreciated.
