A new research group within the Institute of Health and Wellbeing has enjoyed a successful launch

A new research group within the Institute of Health and Wellbeing has enjoyed a successful launch.

The Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment (HEHTA) group held a formal launch event on 12 March. The unit started life in 2006 and has evolved into an autonomous research grouping within the Institute.HEHTA group launch

The launch event attracted many of the group’s existing collaborators and showcased the breadth of their portfolio of methodological and applied research, formed into six key programmes, all led by a senior member of the team:

· Economic evaluation alongside clinical trials

· Evidence synthesis

· Economics of population health

· Statistical methods for routine linked data

· Decision modelling and simulation

· Qualitative research methods

In addition to the research programmes, HEHTA runs a number of professional courses that attract an international audience. This year HEHTA will we launch a new MSc in Health Technology Assessment. The group’s annual report will shortly be available on their website along with copies of the presentations made on the day.
