The Confucius Institute presents 1200 years of Chinese silver-making and Chinese Proficiency test

A talk (6pm – 8pm, 14 November) formulated in the wider context of the 1200 years of history of Chinese silver making, combining Confucius Instituterelevant anthropological and cultural elements as well as the role the Opium Wars played in expanding the production of Chinese Export Silver. Doing so highlights the context behind what was is in reality the jewel in the crown of a long tradition of master silver making that drew in and absorbed outside influences to create what we recognise today as the “Chinese style”.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Glasgow will host another HSK Chinese Proficiency Test at 10am on Saturday 1 December 2012 (Written Test, Level 1, 2 and 3), deadline for registration is Friday 23 November 2012.
