Library

Add resources to your list

Your reading list can include links to items such as print books, book chapters, e-books, print and e-journal articles, audio-visual material, websites, and documents.

Add items the Library holds (including e-books, books and journal articles) to your Reading List from within Library search.

Add a book/e-book

  1. Search for the book title using Library Search
  2. Click on the book title to open the book title page
  3. Select the Bookmarking Extension in your browser
  4. To add the book to your Reading list directly, select Save in my Bookmarks and select the list on the right-hand side, click on Add to List and select the importance, the position in the list and add any student/library notes.

When adding e-books, selecting View ebook will take you to the e-book page directly but bookmarking from this page will not add the correct link to your bookmarked item and this will cause access issues. Always search for and select the required title in the library search, click on the Bookmarking Extension in your browser to add to your list.

If you wish to add books/e-books you have already bookmarked to your list, you can use the Add Resource feature.

Choose Add Resource and you will see a list of your bookmarked titles (newest first), under My Bookmarks. You can choose show more or search for the title in the search box then select the title to add to your list.

We do not recommend searching for books/e-books using this feature as it may not show titles already in the Library stock. Please use Library search instead.

Add an e-journal/print journal article

To add e-journal articles

To add print journal articles

  1. Search for the journal title (not article) using Library Search
  2. Click on the journal title to open the journal page
  3. Select the Bookmarking Extension in your browser
  4. You will now have to add the article information, click on Edit Resource and select Part: Article, Chapter, etc... then select Article under the Resource Type and add the article title in the title box.
  5. Add the article information, including Author and Volume/Issue details by selecting the appropriate fields on the right-hand side.
  6. To add the article to your Reading list directly, select Save in my Bookmarks and select the list on the right-hand side, click on Add to List and select the importance, the position in the list and add any student/library notes.

Box of Broadcasts

When looking to link to a video/radio programme it is worth checking to see if the programme is available via Box of Broadcasts (BoB), as this will ensure that there will be no removal of a link or issues over copyright. Search in BoB for the radio or TV programme you wish to add to your list.

Select the bookmark extension button to add the video to your reading list.

BFI Player

You can also search the BFI Player for films. Please register first, login and then search in the Subscriptions tab for a movie. If available, select the bookmark extension button to add the movie to your reading list.
