Why the Annexes are closing
Closing the Annexes will allow our contractors to deliver essential upgrades to the internal Annexe environment, including:
- Improved heating, cooling and ventilation
- Modernised lighting
- Power for all desks
- Wider aisles and lower shelves for better accessibility
- Enhanced energy efficiency and sustainability
- Refurbished Library Cafe
Collections will be removed and held safely elsewhere to avoid any risk of damage while this extensive work is ongoing.
How to access material stored in the Annexes
- Books required for personal research: If you or your students will need any affected books or other material for personal research, we would advise you to borrow them as soon as possible. Loan periods will be extended and support will be available. Email library@glasgow.ac.uk for advice on borrowing.
- Books required for research or teaching: It may be possible to make a limited number of essential books available elsewhere in the building; if you know of any material that will be required for teaching or research during the closure period, please contact the College Librarian for your College.
- During the closure: If you need access to a relocated book during the closure period, we will do our best to source a copy through an InterLibrary Loan..
