Library

All Library Annexes are now open!

Following a £23 million investment project that began in 2024, the upgraded Annexes now have:

• More natural light - more than double the number of windows
• Better connectivity - dedicated power points at every desk
• Improved comfort – new, refurbished and adjustable furniture, better heating and ventilation
• Better accessibility – wider aisles and lower shelves

They are also much more energy efficient, with a 72% reduction in energy usage across the Annexes. The Annexe exterior has been fully renewed, with roof coverings and wall cladding replaced with modern materials that blend in with the rest of the Library, which was upgraded in 2012.

Some final touches are still ongoing on Level 3, but this work should be completed by the end of 2026. The newly refreshed Library Cafe on Level 3 is also open for business. Find out more about the new Library Cafe.

Thank you for all your patience and support during this significant project. We can't wait for you to visit our new Annexes!
