Library Annexe Upgrade works: week beginning 28 April
Published: 25 April 2025
Library Annexe Upgrade works continue, with intermittent noise disruption expected on Levels 3-12.
This week, Library Annexe Upgrade works will continue at Bute Gardens to the rear of the Library and to the North of the Library from Level 10 upwards.
Online exams on campus
If you are planning to sit an online exam on campus, please be aware that due to continuing works on the Library Annexe Upgrade Project we are currently unable to guarantee a quiet environment in the Library between 08:00-17:00, Monday-Friday. We are sorry for the inconvenience, and we thank you for your patience.
Alternative study spaces
Quiet study spaces are also available in the McMillan Reading Room, Fraser Building Level 3 and the James McCune Smith Learning Hub, which has a silent study space on Level 5. The Saltire Lecture Theatre in the James McCune Smith Learning Hub is now also available for quiet study.
Find a space and check how busy each space is in the UofG Life app.

About the Library Annexe Upgrade Project
In November 2024, work began on a £23 million investment project to upgrade the Annexe of the University Library.
The Annexe exterior will be fully renewed, with roof coverings and wall cladding replaced with modern materials that increase energy efficiency and meet current technical standards. Annexe study spaces will also be improved, with more natural light, upgraded ventilation, better heating and cooling facilities, and more access to power.
