Alternative study spaces
Quiet study spaces are available in the McMillan Reading Room, Fraser Building Level 3 and the James McCune Smith Learning Hub, which has a silent study space on Level 5.
Find a space and check how busy each space is in the UofG Life app.
Noise Disruption in the Library
There is likely to be noise around the Library this week due to ongoing external works on the West and North sides of the building, and in the Annexes on Levels 8 and 9.
The majority of noise disruption will take place from 08:00-17:00, Monday-Friday. Evenings and weekends will be quieter. Free earplugs are available from the Welcome Desk on Level 2 if required.
We thank you for your patience as these essential works progress. If you have any questions, please send an email to the Reach Out Library team or speak to one of our Reach Out Ambassadors in the building.
About the Library Annexe Upgrade Project
In November 2024, work began on a £23 million investment project to upgrade the Annexe of the University Library.
The Annexe exterior will be fully renewed, with roof coverings and wall cladding replaced with modern materials that increase energy efficiency and meet current technical standards. Annexe study spaces will also be improved, with more natural light, upgraded ventilation, better heating and cooling facilities, and more access to power.
