LGBTQ+ Staff Network

At the University of Glasgow, we always celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month! It is celebrated every February across the UK with the aim of educating people about the history of the LGBTQ+ rights movement and to promote equality.

This year, the University Tower was illuminated, for the first time ever, in rainbow colours to mark the start of LGBT+ History Month. Carlo van den Heuvel, LGBTQ+ Network Co-Chair, said: "We’re delighted the university supported our initiative. The rainbow illumination is a meaningful visual symbol that the university stands for inclusion, equality, and diversity."

Eleanor Capaldi, LGBTQ+ Network Co-Chair, said: ‘LGBT+ History Month is always a fantastic opportunity to discover the contributions and influence of LGBTQ+ communities, reminding us of our shared past, and crucially, that we have always been here."

We want to thank everyone across the university who attended and organised an event. We look forward to next year’s edition of this important celebration.
