The LGBTQ+ Staff Network is seeking a new Co-Chair

Would you like to improve the University environment for LGBTQ+ colleagues, students and visitors?
 
The LGBTQ+ Staff & PGR Network is seeking a Co-Chair to assist with developing the University’s support for LGBTQ+ staff and postgraduate students. The Network is a great way to meet new colleagues and can be used as a forum to raise and address issues or concerns as well as celebrate success.
 
Established in 2007 the Network has continued to raise the profile and recognition for LGBTQ+ contributions at the University. In recent years a varied events programme of talks, films, and tours, have seen collaboration with UofG Sport, the SRC, and The Hunterian, as well as working with external organisations, such as the Bi Network, Waverley Care and the Glasgow Women’s Library.
 
The Co-Chair will support Network activities (social, policy development, campaigns), be asked to attend the University’s LGBT+ Equality Group on behalf of the Network, and liaise LGBTQ+ Staff and PGR Network Co-Chair with the University’s LGBT+ Champion and the Equality and Diversity Unit. There is the opportunity to access personal development opportunities through attendance at conferences and training sessions (coordinated around existing employee commitments).

Roles & Responsibilities
-Deliver a series of events throughout the year, and liaise with the relevant services in the University to achieve this
-Liaise with EDU to manage Network funds Contribute to Network webpages
-Maintain dialogue with the UofG shop to feed into product development
-Act as a point of contact to support and signpost staff to appropriate services
-Raise the visibility of LGBTQ+ staff contributions across the University
-Attend the LGBT+ Equality Group meetings to be a voice for staff. These meetings take place 3 x per academic year
-Liaise with the University’s LGBT+ Champion and Equality and Diversity Unit
 
Desirable Skills
-Experience working with LGBTQ+ voluntary or charitable organisations
-Knowledge of or willingness to learn about University financial processes
-Knowledge of the current climate; legal, social, etc for the LGBTQ+ community
