Previous Teaching Excellence Award Process

In 2005-06 the Senior Management Group of the University introduced Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA) to recognise and celebrate members of staff whose teaching was of a particularly high standard.

Four awards were normally made for excellence in teaching and support for learning of any kind, whether undergraduate, postgraduate or post-experience.  Details of previous award winners are provided at TEA Winners.  The scheme was intended to be flexible, in recognition of the wide range of teaching that takes place at Glasgow, and the different ways in which excellence may be recognised. All staff employed on University of Glasgow contracts who taught and/or supported student learning at the University were eligible to be nominated for an award, either as individuals or groups of staff.  Nominations could be put forward by any two, or more, members of the University regardless of whether they were staff or students.

Awards were made at an appropriate graduation ceremony and comprised a certificate and an honorarium of £2000 (payable through payroll and subject to tax).  In addition, the work of award holders was highlighted on the University Website, in the Newsletter, and in other promotional events and publications. Award holders were also asked to disseminate their work in partnership with the Learning and Teaching Centre, through an appropriate mechanism.

The information and guidelines related to the process during session 2012-13 can be found in the following sections:

A very similar process was in place for sessions 2010-11 and 2011-12.
