Provenance: Louis-Léon-Félicité, duc de Brancas de Lauraguais (1733-1824):  lot 153 in Guillaume de Bure, 'Catalogue d’une collection de livres choisis, provenans du cabinet de M***' (Paris:  1770).
William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist:  purchased by Hunter at the Brancas de Lauraguais sale through his agent, Peter Molini, for 45 livres 5 sous;  see Molini’s bill to Hunter (University of Glasgow Library, Hunter Papers H214).
University of Glasgow:  Hunterian bequest 1807;  Hunterian Museum bookplate and book label on front pastedown, with former shelfmark “Aa.10.24”.
Binding: France, 18th-century red morocco decorated with triple gold fillets, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves;  turquoise silk bookmark.   Size:  214 x 147 mm.
Leaf size: Leaf size:  207 x 138 mm.
Annotations: Erased (ownership?) inscription at foot of first page of Tabula (26/1r) unread under ultraviolet lamp;  occasional early marginal annotations;  occasional pointing hands and “nota” marks;  gatherings numbered at the top right-hand corner (most numbers cropped by binder);  within each gathering the first four leaves are numbered “1”-“4” at the bottom right-hand corner (most numbers cropped by binder).
Decoration: Most initials supplied in red, a few in red and brown ink;  paragraph marks and underlining supplied in red throughout;  capital strokes in yellow throughout.
Imperfections: Wanting the final two blank leaves.
