Binding: France, 18th-century blue morocco decorated with triple gold fillets, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves; red silk bookmark.   Size:  207 x 145 mm.
Leaf size: 202 x 140 mm.
Annotations: Pointing hands on a5v and f2v.
Decoration: A six-line initial ‘D’ on a1r is supplied in pink with red and green infill and is set on a square gold ground, from which stylized foliage decoration in pink, blue and gold extends into the inner margin;  the lower margin of a1r has a blue roundel (empty but presumably meant to receive an owner’s initials or coat of arms), from which similar stylized foliage decoration extends across the lower margin.  A three-line initial ‘S’ on e8v is supplied in gold on a rectangular blue ground decorated with white dots, the spaces enclosed by the initial decorated in patterned green;  other initials supplied in red or blue throughout, all with calligraphic decoration in red or blue;  text enclosed within red ink rules.
Imperfections: Wanting the blank leaf f4.
