Binding: France, 18th-century red morocco with gold-tooled dentelle decoration;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves;  ascribed by J.B. Oldham to Jacques Antoine Derome in his 'Notes on bindings in the Hunterian and general libraries in Glasgow University' (University of Glasgow Library, MS Gen. 759, p.3).   Size:  284 x 207 mm.

Annotations: Frequent and extensive early marginal annotations in Latin, almost all so heavily washed as to be illegible;  legible 18-line biographical note on Philelphus below colophon on 19/5r (f.149r);  traces of running headings (heavily washed out or cropped).
Decoration: Several initials supplied in red and blue;  other initials and paragraph marks supplied throughout in red or blue;  all heavily washed out and with considerable bleeding of colour onto the opposite page.
