Binding: 16th-century beech boards;  vellum spine (added in 19th century?) with author’s name and date “1481” tooled in black;  evidence of two clasps (now lost);  manuscript title (16th century) in centre of rear board, together with two unread lines of text in the same hand at the top of the rear board, which are largely obscured by grime and age;  front endpapers added in 19th century and front free endpaper has watermark “Loewen”.   Size:  321 x 218 mm.
Leaf size: 304 x 208 mm.
Annotations: Frequent marginal annotations in Latin in 15th/16th-century hands in brown and also in red ink, together with frequent underlining in red ink;  the underlining ends in gathering k and thereafter the marginal annotations (in brown ink alone) become spasmodic;  text divided into three Books, each Book separately foliated in an early hand in the centre of top margin;  19th-century pencil number “88” on a2r;  pencil number “2024” in a 19th-century German(?) hand on front pastedown;  19th-century pencil note “Printing in 1440 [sic]” also on front pastedown, and a 19th-century price in pencil “28/” above the letters “CG”.
