Thomas Arthur (fl. 1856-1876), bookseller, London:  sold book to William Euing.
William Euing (1788-1874), insurance broker, Glasgow:  purchased from Arthur 4 Oct. 1869 according to Euing’s pencil acquisition note and price code “4 10 69 Arthur ce/-” on a2r together with his inventory number “No 4392” and a superseded inventory number “133”;  source confirmed in Euing’s acquisitions inventory (University of Glasgow Library, MS Euing 49).
University of Glasgow:  presented by Euing in 1872 according to one of the two University Library bookplates on front pastedown.
Binding: 18th-century vellum;  gold-tooled spine with red and green leather title labels.   Size:  247 x 179 mm.

Annotations: 16th-century marginal annotations on f7v, 3/3v and A3r;  18th-century number “1182” in ink on front pastedown;  19th-century number “120”, price “£1.15.0”, price code “t/a/-” and initials “CM” (“CN” or “CU”) on front pastedown - all in pencil.
Decoration: Twelve-line initial “Q” on a2r supplied in blue with reserved white on a square ground of elaborate red pen-work;  other initials and paragraph marks supplied throughout in red or blue;  capital strokes in yellow throughout.
Imperfections: None.
