| Decoration: | On 2/1r (f. 13r) a six-line initial “M” is supplied in gold on a square ground of white-vine decoration defined in crimson, blue and green, which extends into the four margins to form a border; the lower border of the same page incorporates a green laurel wreath within which is a defaced coat of arms (below the decorative border is a partially erased inscription in Italian in a 17th-century(?) hand “[...] aquila coronata da vna p[ar]te, e dall’ altra dei lione [...]” - perhaps a reference to the defaced stemma); similar initials supplied in gold on white-vine grounds at the beginning of each book; smaller initials supplied in alternate red and blue; paragraph marks supplied in alternate red and blue in quire 1 (containing the rubrics and errata); paragraph marks supplied in alternate red and blue at the beginning of each chapter. |
