Provenance: A. S. (16th century):  in the outer margin of 1/2r is a painted reddish orange shield on which is an image of St Dominic in black and white habit holding a stalk of lilies, his body flanked by the letters “A” and “S” and with a ‘basket’ helm surmounting the shield.
R. Whittle (17th century):  inscription on front pastedown “R: Whittle precium 5s 6.”
William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist:  source unknown.
University of Glasgow:  Hunterian bequest 1807;  Hunterian Museum bookplate on front pastedown, with former shelfmark “M.1.11”. 
Binding: 16th-century heavily worn, blind-tooled pigskin over paste boards;  covers decorated with five blind-stamped rolls to form a series of frames - one roll containing medallion heads of Huss (‘IOH’), Luther (‘MAR’), Melancthon (‘PHIL’), Erasmus (‘ERA’), a second roll with scenes from the Annunciation, the Nativity, and the Flight into Egypt, a third roll of quatrefoils in lozenges, and two unidentified rolls with chain-like patterns;  evidence of two ties (both now lost);  spine undecorated;  remnants of a spine title in ink;  green-edged leaves.  Size:  310 x 214 mm. 
Leaf size: 298 x 207 mm. 
Annotations: Brief marginal annotation on 29/2v (f. 224v) in a 16th-century hand;  number "112"(?) in an early hand on 1/2r;  letter “C” on front free endpaper. 
Decoration: On 1/2r, col. 1, an eight-line initial “C” with a foliate design in shades of green is set on a rectangular gold ground - the body of the initial decorated in pink with gold foliage -  and on the same page the two columns of text are separated by a gold bar (from which foliate decoration extends into the top and lower margins);  similarly decorated initials and margins at the beginning of each book - on 1/4v, 11/1r (f. 79r), 19/2v (f. 146v), 25/3r (f. 193r);  other initials and paragraph marks throughout supplied in alternate red and blue;  capital strokes and underlining in red throughout. 
Imperfections: Wanting the blank 13/10 (f. 104).
