University of Glasgow:  Euing's inventory number “28” in pencil on pastedown of original front board;  presented by Euing in 1872 according to the University Library bookplate on the pastedown of the original front board.
Binding: 20th-century brown calf (ca. 1985) with new endpapers and flyleaves, replacing a 17th-century binding;  sprinkled red-edging retained;  original dilapidated, blind-stamped calf-covered boards preserved; the blind-stamped design consists of a rectangle formed by a blind-stamp roll, with ornaments in blind at the outer four corners;  now housed (together with the earlier boards) in a buckram case.   Size:  323 x 217 mm.
Leaf size: 314 x 210 mm.
Annotations: Occasional marginal notes in Latin in a 16th-century hand;  occasional underlining and “nota” marks.

Note:  Hunter apparently had a second copy of this edition which had belonged to the army officer, James Dormer (1679-1741), and which Hunter purchased for £1.1.0 at the Dormer library sale;  see lot 1824 in the annotated British Library copy of ‘A catalogue of the genuine and elegant library of the late Sir Clement Cottrell Dormer, collected by Lieutenant-General James Dormer ...’  (London: 1764);  the Dormer copy is no longer in the Hunterian Library.

Binding: England, 18th-century gold-tooled red morocco, bound by Christopher Chapman.  On both covers triple fillets form a frame, within which is an ornamental roll (Nixon, ‘Harleian bindings’, pl. 14, Chapman roll 5).  The head and tail of the spine are decorated with Nixon, ‘Harleian bindings’, pl. 14, Chapman roll 2, and the spine compartments are decorated with several individual tools including Nixon, ‘Harleian bindings’, pl. 15, Chapman nos 9 and 10;  the edges and turn-ins are decorated with Chapman roll 2;  marbled endpapers;  edges of leaves left plain;  marbled endpapers.   Size: 330 × 215 mm.
Leaf size: 314 x 204 mm.
Annotations: Frequent marginal annotations (15th/16th century) in two hands (one in red, the other in black);  underlining in red and black;  18th-century numbering in pencil ‘IIIv’ on front flyleaf;  a similar numbering appears on three other Hunterian incunables with a Harleian provenance (Bw.2.3, Bx.2.1, Bx.2.18).
Decoration: A six-line initial ‘E’ on a3r is supplied in blue with reserved white and set on a rectangular ground of green and pink foliate decoration;  other principal initials supplied in a similar style in different colours;  numerous smaller initials supplied in red or blue, occasionally in green.
