Peace Bench dedication Monday 22 September

We are hosting a day of reflection to dedicate the University's Peace Bench with members of the University's community, from young to old.

Join us for on the hour 5-minute offerings, from 7am til 7pm, on Monday 22 September, to mark the dedication of the Peace Bench. The bench has been the result of a collaboration between the University's Chancellor's fund, the University's Inter-faith Chaplaincy, the UNESCO Chair for RIELA (Refugee Integration through Education, Languages and the Arts), the staff from Estates and Buildings, and the Galgael Trust.

The Peace Bench is a beautiful accompaniment to the Peace Tree planted by UNESCO-RIELA colleagues last year, and is situated to the rear of the School of Law, which in turn is on Professors' Square.

We hope that the bench will provide a place for those who wish to reflect on and pray for peace, or simply to enjoy a moment of calm on our busy campus. All are welcome to join us for this special celebration. Culminating with the Chapel Choir, there will be reflections, music and actions for peace, the planting of a Peace Pole, cups of coffee, and times for silence, stories, and ceremonies.

All welcome!

Tranquility Zone

Please note that Tranquility Zone is taking a break over the summer and will begin again in September 2025.

The Tranquility Zone is a calm, meditative space for UofG students and staff amongst the busyness of campus life. Join us to listen to relaxing instrumental music and hear inspirational quotations on the theme for the evening (such as love, truthfulness, generosity). You can bring quotations to share, or simply listen to others. Following this, you’re invited to stay on and have a cup of tea, some light refreshments and uplifting conversations about what you’ve just heard.

Each session will be led by Dr Cosma Gottardi, our Honorary Bahá’í Chaplain and will be held in room 259 of the Inter-faith Chaplaincy offices (If you are late and/or find the doors locked, please ring 0141 330 1888 so we can let you in.)
