Intern with UofG's Environmental and Sustainability Team

Who are GUEST?

Glasgow University Environmental Sustainability Team (GUEST) is a team of 12 student interns, employed by the university under the Estates and Commercial Services Department. The team works to improve environmental practice at the University and in the local community.

What does GUEST do?

GUEST operate under eight sustainability driven branches: food, waste, transport, laboratories, biodiversity, community engagement, communications and student engagement. Working alongside staff and students, the team act to improve environmental issues on campus across the themes of the branches.

This is achieved through various methods. These include: assisting in policy development, on campus adudits, hosting flagship programmes (such as the Community Fridge and the Bike Hub), communicating through our online and on campus presence, offering support to local groups and organising events which open discussion around issues of sustainability.

GUEST hire through the internship hub on a rolling basis, employing three coordinator positions at the end of the academic year, and eight promoter plus one bike mechanic in the new term. This has proved highly successful and we have been delighted to build our presence via the internship hub and reach out to the wider student body.

GUEST Co-ordinator roles are typically advertised in April each year and Promoter and Bike Mechanic roles are advertised in May.
