Nominations and Appointments
Do we need to wait for our current External Examiner’s contract to end before nominating another?
No. Academic Policy & Governance will contact all Schools with External Examiners due to conclude their appointment prior to their end date, after which we encourage you to submit nominations for replacement Examiners as soon as you have a confirmed nominee.
If you know that you will require an External Examiner to do work in December or January, please ensure you submit the nomination by September at the latest.
If you are struggling to find a replacement External Examiner, please do not hesitate to contact Academic Policy & Governance so that we can advise if possible.
How long does the nomination and appointment process take?
You should allow six weeks from initially submitting a nomination for an External Examiner to be fully active on the system.
What documents are required as part of the nomination process?
To nominate or extend the term of an External Examiner, Schools should complete the appropriate form, available from the APG website: https://www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/apg/qea/externalexaminers/#guidancedocumentsandforms
When nominating an External Examiner, you will be required to submit their CV. You do NOT need to submit a copy of the nominee’s passport.
If you encounter any difficulties submitting a nomination, please contact apg-external-examiners@glasgow.ac.uk.
