International Student Buddying Scheme 2025/26
The International Student Support team is dedicated to helping new international students settle into life in the UK and feel part of the community. To support this, the University of Glasgow has introduced the International Student Buddying Scheme.
How it works
The scheme pairs new Undergraduate international students (“Wee Buddies”) with returning students (“Big Buddies”). GIC students who are starting at UofG in September 2025 in year one or two are also welcome to apply to get a Big Buddy.
Big and Wee Buddies will connect before and during Semester 1 with Big Buddies offering peer support guidance and helping the new students settle in.
The focus is on new Undergraduate international students who are not only new to the UK, but often to university life, making extra support essential.
Big Buddies also benefit, gaining leadership experience, meeting new people, and learning new skills.
Applications to get a Big Buddy are open! If you are a new Undergraduate international student (including GIC students about to start an undergraduate course at UofG), apply here - Get a Big Buddy
Applications are open until 30th September. You must apply by 7th September if you want to be matched with a Big Buddy before the start of Autumn semester. If you apply after 7th September, we will match you with a Big Buddy as soon as we can after you apply.
