Join illustrator Frank Quitely and hear about his artistic practice and how his artwork for Bowmore's 'No Corners to Hide' came to be.

Our current exhibition Demon Drink in the Hunterian Art Gallery explores the theme of alcohol in art and blends items from The Hunterian collections with the artwork of internationally renowned graphic artist Frank Quitely.

Quitely was commissioned by Bowmore whisky to collaborate on a new limited edition single malt, 'No Corners to Hide'. Based on the Islay legend of the devil escaping the islanders by hiding in the distillery and escaping in a whisky cask, Quitely's artwork details the Scottish myth in incredible detail in one illustration. Demon Drink presents Quitely's work in a ‘high art’ setting and includes preparatory sketches that show his creative process and explore his process of making art.

Join us in the Hunterian Art Gallery in the exhibition space to hear from the artist himself, as he discusses his artistic practice and tells us how his artwork detailing this Scottish legend came to be.

Frank Quitely is a Glasgow-born artist who has been telling stories with images for more than 30 years. Although best known for his work in Comic Books and Graphic Novels, he is often invited to collaborate on a variety of projects such as Album covers, Poster design, Murals, and all types of Narrative illustration. His current collaboration is with Bowmore Whisky, retelling Myths and Legends from the Island of Islay.
