Elisabeth Schilling: FELTFELT is a new solo performance piece for galleries from award-winning dancer and dance maker Elisabeth Schilling.

How are we influenced by the fabrics, materials and shapes that surround us?
How do they touch us?
How do we feel them?

The task set by FELT is to evoke the experience and power of ‘texture’ through the medium of dance. Could movements and textures, swathe, synergise and fuse together to become entwined with our experience? If so, how then do these textures relate to our senses? FELT reaches beyond verbal interactions to use visuals, sounds and movement and invites the audience to witness, experience and to participate. Skin and cloth, constantly transformed by bone and muscle, become themselves a texture of movement, creating spaces for the imagination.

Elisabeth Schilling studied at Dr. Hoch’s Conservaroire in Frankfurt a.M. as well as at TrinityLaban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London and at London Contemporary Dance School. She has worked for over 30 international artists, choreographers and companies including: Scottish Dance Theatre, Sasha Waltz (Repertoire), Trisha Brown (Repertoire), Koen Augustijn (Les Ballet C de la B), Clod Ensemble, Pablo Bronstein, and Phil Niblock (among others). Schilling has been commissioned by institutions such as TrinityLaban, Scottish Dance Theatre, TEAK Helsinki, DACI Copenhagen, and Tate Modern.
