Teachers' Conference 2023: Dumfries Campus

We are excited to announce our upcoming Teachers’ Conference on Wednesday 7 June at the Dumfries Campus.

The event will include the chance to meet with staff from admissions as well as academic colleagues and students. The programme includes CPD to help support UCAS applications, information about subjects relating to Environmental Science and Sustainability and Primary Education, and a great opportunity to explore the excellent resources at our Dumfries campus.

10.30 - 11.15 Admissions, entry requirements and updates
11.15 - 12.00 Subject spotlight: BSc Environmental Science & Sustainability. Staff and students will demonstrate why Dumfries is a unique location providing amazing opportunities for those looking for a degree offering lots of fieldwork and practical experience.
12.00 – 12.45 Networking lunch
12.45 – 13.30 Subject spotlight: MA Global Sustainable Development. Introducing our brand-new programme for 2024. Glasgow ranks in the University world top 20 for sustainability and this exciting new programme will provide students with an amazing opportunity to undertake a degree programme with guaranteed professional placements.
13:30 – 14:15 Subject spotlight: Primary Teaching. Staff from the Dumfries and Gilmorehill campuses will showcase the options for those interested in a career in teaching in Primary Schools and provide practical suggestions for how to support applicants.
14:15 – 15:00 CPD – Supporting UCAS Applications. UCAS are introducing several new developments that will impact on UCAS applications for entry in 2024 and beyond. Changes to references will impact from 2023 with changes to the personal statement due to follow. New Entry Grade reports will also launch in 2023. This workshop will explore how these changes might impact on admissions processes at Glasgow and other institutions and how you can best support applicants.

Campus tours will be available as alternatives to the afternoon sessions and after 3pm for anyone who would like to explore the beautiful campus and see the excellent facilities.
