UNESCO RIELA and Remembering Srebrenica Scottish Board of Ambassadors are co-organising this special exhibition as part of the remembrance events around the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica.

In 2024, Hannah Rose Thomas travelled to Bosnia to meet mothers of victims of the genocide. She is now painting these women to help spread awareness of this awful episode in history. 5 of these paintings will be on display, with 3 more being made as we speak.

Robert McNeil worked as a forensic expert in Bosnia, to help identify human remains from the mass graves created as part of the genocide. When he retired, he took up painting to help him deal with the post traumatic stress that was caused by the work.

The paintings will be on display in three different locations. Entry is free and open to all:

23 June - 6 July: University Chapel
7 - 10 July: Advanced Research Centre, ground floor
11 - 18 July: School of Education, 5th floor gallery
