Half Yearly Meetings of General Council

Meetings are held at half-yearly intervals (January and June). All General Council members are entitled to attend, i.e. all graduates and academic staff of the University. Notifications of meetings are published on this web site and in Avenue (the alumni magazine) that members receive once a year.

Tuesday 2 June: General Council Half-yearly meeting 

The last half-yearly meeting of the University of Glasgow General Council was held on Tuesday 2 June 2020 and took place as a virtual meeting.

The Chancellor, Professor Sir Kenneth Calman, chaired his final meeting before retiring from the Chancellorship.  At the meeting, the Council received the result of the election of Sir Kenneth’s successor, Dame Katherine Grainger.  

Reverend Stuart MacQuarrie, Convenor, General Council Business Committee has written to Sir Kenneth and Lady Calman on behalf of the GCBC and the alumni community  to thank them both on their fourteen years of service to the University. You can read the letter online
