Half Yearly Meetings of General Council

Meetings are held at half-yearly intervals. All General Council members are entitled to attend, i.e., all graduates and academic staff of the University. Notifications of meetings are published on this website and in Avenue (the alumni magazine). Please note, that Avenue is published four times a year (Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn), with the Autumn issue being the only hardcopy, and all others sent electronically.

The next half yearly meeting is scheduled to take place in January 2024. For more details please email, alumni@glasgow.ac.uk

Half Yearly Meeting - June 2021

The Half-Yearly Meeting of the General Council was held virtually on Monday 21 June 2021 at 6pm

The Chancellor, Dame Katherine Grainger DBE, was in the Chair. The meeting was addressed by the Principal, Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, The Convenor of Court, Elizabeth Passey and by Rev Stuart MacQuarrie, Convenor of the General Council Business Committee.

Thank you to all of the candidates who stood for election to the General Council Business Committee and to all General Council members who cast their vote.

We are delighted to welcome John Corrie (LLB 2001), Patricia Cunningham (LLB 1991) and Alan Mackintosh (BSc 1981), as the top 3 candidates with the most votes, to fill the vacant positions on the committee.
