Moving on up

Graphic of a gold star

We’re delighted to report that we’ve improved our position among the top 100 universities in the 2021 THE (Times Higher Education) World University Rankings, rising by seven places to 92.

And THE has shortlisted UofG for University of the Year for our work on reparative justice. Despite a strong abolitionist stance in the 18th and 19th centuries, our predecessors accepted gifts and bequests from people whose wealth was derived from slavery. To redress this past wrong, we commissioned in-house research on the University’s financial gain from slavery, thought to be the first study of its kind in British history, which recommended a significant programme of reparations.

We’re also pleased to say that eight of our subjects are ranked top in the UK by the Complete University Guide 2021: Accounting & Finance; Dentistry; Drama, Dance & Cinematics; Education; Medicine; Nursing; Sports Science; and Veterinary Medicine. A further 25 subjects are ranked in the top 10 in the UK. Four subjects are ranked top in The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021: Sports Science; Food Science; Animal Science; and Dentistry.
