Glasgow Science Festival 2026

Did you know that fungi and trees talk and share food underground? This is known as a “mutualistic relationship”. Join University of Glasgow researchers to build a mutualistic headband and beat the high score of a new game, Co-oper-shape-tion!


Ecosystem Relationships with the Funguys was developed as part of Glasgow Science Festival in Action. A training scheme run by GSF to support University of Glasgow research students to develop their public engagement skills. The team of students from the Colleges of Science & Engineering and Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences were briefed to create family-friendly activities linked to the festival theme, Cheers for 20 Years. Megan Croa, Nosakhare Odionfo Osaro, Alzbeta Oravcova, Jessica Lavery, Danial Kiamarsi, Bhavya Pande and Lucy Brennan did an amazing job and we hope you enjoy the activities.
