Glasgow Science Festival 2026

After decades of research developing detector technology, the first observation of gravitational waves was made in 2015. Since then, the field has grown rapidly, and we now have hundreds of detections. These observations of coalescencing black holes and neutron stars provide a unique window into the lives of stars and a unique laboratory to test the nature of gravity.

Join Dr Christoper Berry, University of Glasgow's Institute for Gravitational Research, and review some of the highlights of recent gravitational-wave discoveries, and Glasgow's contributions to these breakthroughs.
