MŮO

Witness the infinite activity of the universe with this audiovisual installation, 6pm to 8pm.
MŮO is a striking audiovisual installation that transforms subatomic particles called muons into a tangible sensory experience. Centred on the Muonophone—a bespoke instrument developed by Lomond Campbell and nuclear physicists David Mahon from the University of Glasgow—the work uses advanced detectors to sense cosmic radiation born from exploding stars.
As these invisible particles cascade through the atmosphere they trigger an ever-evolving, quadraphonic landscape of ambient sound and visuals. By translating the ancient energy of the cosmos into a deep-listening environment, MŮO invites the audience to witness the silent, infinite activity of the universe.
This event is partly funded by the Royal Astronomical Society.
